Decadent Almond Joy Cookies: A Tribute to the Classic Candy Bar

Who doesn't relish the thought of those sweet, coconut-filled Almond Joy candy bars. Now, imagine transforming that delicious taste into a warm, baked treat! These Chocolate Almond Joy Cookies capture the very essence of their namesake confection in a deliciously reimagined form. This recipe is an ode to the chocolate-coconut-almond trio that has won over palates for generations. Perfect for any occasion, these cookies are not just a mere dessert; they're a delightful journey with each bite harking back to the nostalgic moments of enjoying an Almond Joy bar. In every Almond Joy Cookie, you'll find melted butter that offers an irresistible base note of richness. Sugar that sweetens the tune, harmonizing with the melody of flavors. You'll also find flour, baking soda, and salt that compose the structural backbone. Crafting Almond Joy Cookies requires attention to detail and a nuanced understanding of the baking process. Here, I share the secrets to perfecting this culinary composition.

Consider the following instructions to fine-tune your recipe:

- Dry roast almonds beforehand, then let them cool.

- Opt for high-quality chocolate to establish your palate in a luxurious experience. Dark chocolate adds a rich counterbalance to the overarching sweetness.

- Select semi-sweet, milk, or dark chocolate as per your preference.

- Use parchment paper on baking trays for uniform heat distribution.

- Reduce sugar to balance the coconut's natural sweetness, if needed.

- Store these delights in an airtight container to keep the moisture intact.

- Out of almond extract? This can be substituted for vanilla. Taste will change the almond flavor slightly but still be delicious

End your baking session with a deep appreciation for the art of cookie-making, knowing that your Almond Joy Cookies are poised to offer joy with every note and in every bite.

How do I store Almond Joy Cookies to keep them fresh?

Storing Almond Joy Cookies properly ensures that the encore of their delectable performance is as impressive as the opening act. Once completely cooled, place the cookies in an airtight container. Sealing them at room temperature provides the ideal setting to keep your cookies ready for a repeat performance for up to 5 days of freshness, or if kept refrigerated can stay fresh for almost 2 weeks. Parchment paper between layers guards the individual textures of the cookies, ensuring no character is lost. For extended intervals, freezing the cookies prepares them for a grand return on a future stage. When you carefully store Almond Joy Cookies they are shielded from air that could snatch away their moisture. Storing your cookies in the freezer will preserve them for up to three months. Once ready to enjoy again simply let them come to room temperature.

These cookies, much like the classic bar, are a delicious blend of the fundamental trio of chocolate, coconut, and almonds. A testament to the simplicity yet perfection of mixing sweet and nutty tastes. Easily adaptable and warmly welcomed in any scenario where a sweet touch is desired. Almond Joy Cookies are a standing ovation in the dessert worldβ€”a cookie rendition that pays homage to the candy bars we've all adored.

A Taste of the Southwest: Southwestern Chop Salad Recipe

This Southwestern Chop Salad recipe is an escapade for the taste buds, brimming with bold and bright flavors rooted in the desert landscape. This robust salad melds the crunch of fresh vegetables with hearty beans and the warming blend of traditional Southwestern spices. It's not just a dish, it's a gesture to the culinary spirit of the American Southwest that is vibrant, satisfying, and utterly delightful. Southwestern cuisine is characterized by its variety of colorful flavors, and what better way to enjoy them than through a Southwestern Chopped Salad? This dish expertly combines the nutritional prowess of leafy greens with the rustic charm of black beans, sweet corn, and plum tomatoes, all seasoned with the distinctive flavors of this delicious dressing. One very important key to this dish lies in its vibrant appearance, which promises more than just visual pleasure. Each ingredient adds a layer of complexity to the flavor while providing essential nutrients. Romaine lettuce offers a crisp base that's low in calories and high in vitamins A and K. Black beans contribute to the heartiness of the dish, offering protein and fiber. Corn introduces a sweet crunch that contrasts wonderfully with the creamy beans. Diced tomatoes not only add a juicy freshness, but are also packed with antioxidants. When it all comes together with a tangy cilantro lime vinaigrette or a rich southwestern dressing, every bite becomes an exploration of textures and tastes. Whether you're seeking a light yet fulfilling main or a substantial side dish, this salad can easily be personalized with additional proteins like grilled chicken or juicy strips of beef for an excellent light dinner.

Amidst this rainbow of ingredients, Southwestern staples like cilantro, green onions, and ripe avocados join the mix, each elevating the signature taste and enhancing the salad's visual appeal. Flexible in its nature, the salad invites modifications to suit individual palates, embodying the spirit of inclusivity that characterizes Southwestern cuisine. To craft your very own Southwestern Salad masterpiece, you'll want to gather the freshest ingredients along with those that also excite your taste buds. So feel free to switch out my recipe for some things that you may enjoy a bit more! An assortment of colorful companions including black beans, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, jalapeΓ±os and red bell pepper for added layers of flavors and textures. A ripe avocado adds a luxurious touch, contributing heart-healthy fats and a creamy counterpoint to the crunchier elements. For an aromatic punch add your fresh cilantro, green onions, and a diced jalapeΓ±o for just the right blend of zest and spice.

In crafting the ideal dressing for our salad, we seek to balance zest with substance. Whisk in some Southwestern soul with chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Introduce Greek yogurt or mayonnaise for a lush, creamy consistency and a touch of tartness. A hint of honey or agave syrup offers a counterpoint to the spice. Cilantro, finely chopped, enlivens the dressing with its unmistakable freshness. This delightfully vibrant blend of ingredients ensures that each forkful of salad is not just a meal but an experience.

How to Serve Your Salad Spectacularly

Presentation is key, and with a few thoughtful touches, you can transform your Southwestern Chop Salad into a feast for the eyes. Serve in a wide bowl or plate for a full display of the salad's colorful spectrum. Offer tortilla chips or warm pita bread on the side for textural contrast. A rich Southwestern dressing drizzled over the top just before serving heightens the fresh delicious flavors. You can even personalize it by allowing guests to add their choice of protein for a dish that caters to all tastes and dietary needs. Chicken, salmon, slow cooker pulled pork and steak are all great protein options for this dish. For a final flourish top with fresh avocado slices and a sprinkle of shredded cheese for that last note of richness and appeal.

Storage Savvy for Your Salad

Keep your Southwestern Salad vibrant and delicious with these storage insights. Use airtight containers or specially designed produce bags to extend the life of your chopped veggies in the fridge. Store the dressing separately to keep your salad from getting soggy, adding it just before indulgence. If you do have leftovers, remember they can be kept refrigerated for a day or two, though nothing beats the freshness of a newly tossed salad. For meals on the go, pre-portion the salad and dressing separately; a little meal prep makes for a convenient and nutritious choice throughout your busy week.

This salad is a reflection of the Southwestern ethos, from its bold, fresh ingredients to its inviting array of colors and textures. The dressing's zest, born of lime and spices, is a nod to the region's love for bold, clean flavors. As a stand-alone meal or shared as a side, it offers a well-rounded plate with protein, veggies, and good fats. Its adaptability is a testament to its place at any table - a true culinary chameleon for an irresistible salad.

When time is of the essence, rest assured that your Southwestern Chop Salad can materialize in mere minutes. Typically, you're looking at a tidy 15 to 25 minutes from start to finish. It's the ultimate time-saver, simplifying meal prep without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. A Guide to Creating a Magical St Patrick's Day Charcuterie Board

As the season of shamrocks and leprechauns approaches, there's no better way to celebrate than with a deliciously crafted St Patrick's Day charcuterie board. This festive snack platter is an excellent way to showcase the rich culinary heritage of the Irish, all the while adding a festive flair to your holiday gathering. So, let's dive into the elements that make this festive Irish cheese board truly special.

What Foods To Use When Decorating These Boards?

When assembling an unforgettable St Patrick's Day charcuterie board, it's essential to highlight traditional Irish flavors while embracing the vibrant green hues and spirit of the holiday.

You can start with a variety of Irish cheeses. On your board, the unmistakable tastes of Ireland should come through with offerings of Dubliner, a sweet, aged cheese, and Cashel Blue, a creamy yet punchy blue variety. I am a huge fan of Truly brand Grass Fed Cheese & Butter that comes from Ireland and is sold in the United States. Their Cheddar Cheese is a simple favorite of mine and what I used for this Irish cheese board.

Next, you will select your meats wisely. You can go with traditional Irish cured meats, including thinly sliced corned beef that will add a robust heartiness to the spread. However, also sticking to your traditional favorite and the traditional crowd favorite meats won't take away from the St Patrick's Day charcuterie board either. I chose to go with my favorites here and just did my local meats and salami.

Add in the proper colors and make sure to add in green with fruits and vegetables. Using fresh green grapes, juicy kiwi slices, and crisp cucumbers bring a splash of St. Patrick’s Day color to the board. Don’t skip the yummy carbs though! Green grapes, kiwi slices, and granny smith apples not only taste great, but align perfectly with the St. Patrick's Day color palette. These fruits provide a refreshing contrast to the savory salty flavors elsewhere on the board.

To make the board a more traditional Irish board, complete it with slices of dense, hearty soda bread, ready to be smeared with a generous helping of mustard or chutney. Feel fee to substitute for the simple traditional route you know and love and add in crackers of your choosing.

Lastly, dont forget that touches of creative decor is key to set your board apart. Some ideas for that extra touch of magic can include shamrock-shaped garnishes and sprinkling some edible gold accents for a whimsical and beautiful presentation. For this board I chose to cut my green apples into a four leaf clover shape & cut my cheese slices, using a cookie cutter, into letters that spell out Happy St. Patrick's Day. The letters are always a great way to make any charcuterie board more customized and festive whether its to make this board, or an Easter charcuterie board (just around the corner), birthdays, or anything you want to celebrate while entertaining your loved ones! Tradition and creativity can beautifully merge on this board, promising it to be as visually stunning as it is delicious.

The St. Patrick’s Day Touch

A St Patrick's Day charcuterie board isn't just about the food β€” it's about crafting an experience that captures the essence of the holiday. Embrace Irish inspired hues and flavors by infusing your board with an array of green foods, such as grapes and bell peppers, alongside celebrated Irish cheeses and meats. Add in Creativity with shapes. Use an shamrock-shaped cookie cutter for an adorable twist on cheeses and bread that guests will love. Add in flavors that scream that original Irish pride. Introduce dips like an ale-infused cheddar spread to delight the palate and add an unmistakable Irish "Touch." Incorporate these elements thoughtfully, and your board will not only taste Irish but look the part, too. The St Patrick's Day snack board is more than just food; it's a centerpiece that celebrates Irish culture and the joy of the holiday.

What Do I Need to Make a St. Patrick’s Day Snack Board?

Creating the perfect board requires a little planning and a trip to the grocery store for some special items. Here is a run down of ingredients to help you when shopping for the board:

- Cheeses: Aim for a variety like Dubliner or creamy Cashel Blue.

- Green Veggies: Cucumber slices and bell pepper strips keep your board fresh and thematic. Don't forget the green apple or a pear if you are making the shamrock.

- Bread: Soda bread is a must-have, served with rich butter or a tangy beer cheese spread.

- Meats: Corned beef or Irish sausages will be the heart of your festive savory selections. As well as your personal favorites.

- Add some festive extras: Think shamrock cookies or gold-wrapped chocolate & candies for playfulness and a pop of color.

-Introduce tangy accents: Pickles and mustards, such as gherkins and Irish wholegrain mustard, balance the rich flavors.

With these ingredients, your St. Patrick's Day snack board will not only be delicious but also a feast for the eyes. There are no instructions to this bord because its all about getting creative and having fun!

A well-constructed St Patrick's Day charcuterie board is more than a meal; it's a celebration of fun, a reminder of Irish history, a splash of festive colors, and a canvas for culinary creativity. With a thoughtful balance of traditional flavors, fresh fruits, and a nod to the natural beauty of Ireland, you'll have a delightful centerpiece that's sure to lure both your foodie friends and lucky leprechauns to your table. Happy St. Patrick's Day and may your charcuterie board be as lucky as it is delicious!

Delight in the Fusion: Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls made with Sourdough Starter

When the comforting warmth of a cinnamon roll meets the spicy, moist sweetness of carrot cake, you have a culinary delight that promises to warm the heart. Introducing these yummy Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls made with Sourdough Starter. This is a sweet treat for your senses that's not just delicious but also deeply satisfying on a gourmet level. Imagine the blend of biting into a sweet, tangy cinnamon roll swirl infused with the allure of carrot cake spices, all brought together by the unique characteristics of a sourdough starter. This blog post will guide you through the instructions for baking this delectable treat. Trust me when i say, this is one that's sure to earn its stripes as a staple in your baking repertoire.

To prepare these Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls with Sourdough Starter, you'll need to obviously start with an active sourdough starter. This natural leavening agent is the soul of the rolls, providing them with not just their lift but also their unique tangy flavor profile. Before you begin mixing your dough, make sure your sourdough starter is ready to perform. Its lively bubbles and pleasant sour aroma will be your cues that it's primed to leaven the dough beautifully.

Tips To Making The Perfect Cinnamon Rolls

1.Let your sourdough starter sit at room temperature until it shows active fermentation.

2. Grate fresh carrots finely to integrate well into the dough without excess moisture.

3. Be generous with the cinnamon and sugar for that unmistakable carrot cake aroma.

4. Spread the filling evenly, leaving a slight border to seal the dough.

5. Roll the dough tightly to maintain the shape and integrity of the rolls.

Once you've crafted your rolls, let them rise until they're puffy, and after baking, you'll have golden-brown spirals wafting irresistible scents through your kitchen and breakfast table.

What is Sourdough Starter, and why is it used in making Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls?

A sourdough starter is a treasure in the world of artisan baking, a culture of natural yeast and bacteria that creates a leavening agent far more flavorful than any commercial yeast could offer. Employing sourdough starter in Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls not only imparts a distinctively tangy taste that complements the sweeter notes of the rolls; it also promises a texture that's light and pleasingly chewyβ€”a delight for the palate and the gut. This treat is truly a complex taste profile, marrying tanginess with the sweetness of carrot and spice. The starter also enhances and improves the texture, making for lighter and more digestible cinnamon rolls. Nutritional benefits like enhanced mineral absorption and possibly a lower glycemic index are also welcoming.

Can I use a store-bought Sourdough Starter for these rolls, or do I need to make my own?

Whether you opt for a store-bought sourdough starter or decide to cultivate your own, each choice comes with its unique flavors and merits. Store-bought starter can save time and offer consistency; however, a homemade variation might present a more rewarding baking journey, rich in deep flavors developed over time. Use a store-bought starter for convenience and consistency. Use a homemade starter for a hands-on experience and depth of flavor. Personal preference and experience dictate the starter choice. Either way, and active and bubbly starter is required for a successful rise and flavor.

How does the flavor of Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls differ from traditional cinnamon rolls?

Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls brings a basket of flavors vastly different from the traditional cinnamon roll, each bite whisking you away to an orchard of taste nuances. In these rolls, carrots introduce a mellow sweetness, while a rich spice blend elevates the flavor much beyond what regular cinnamon rolls offer. Folding in ingredients like shredded carrots or nuts, and the texture becomes as varied as the flavors themselvesβ€”with the sourdough starter adding a tangy baseline that accentuates the other ingredients. The rolls offer the perfect flavor distinctions of a unique sweetness from carrots, and a complex spice blend for a deep flavor profile. Once again, the flavors are brought together by the tanginess from the sourdough starter enhancing the overall sweetness.

Enjoy the adventure of baking these Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls with Sourdough Starter and share the delight with friends and family who'll marvel at your culinary prowess. With this guide, you have all you need to create rolls that are as nutritious as they are delicious. This breakfast treat is a true testament to the magic of sourdough baking and the everlasting charm of these beautiful delicious carrot cake cinnamon rolls made with sourdough starter.

Discover the Bliss of Homemade Acai Bowls

Packed with vitamins and heart-healthy fats, a homemade acai bowl recipe is a fuel-forward approach to kickstart your day with zest and vitality. In this culinary exploration, we'll uncover the essence of the acai berry, tell you what constitutes an acai bowl, what gives it its nutritive profile, and how you can craft this tropical delight in the comfort of your kitchen.

What is Acai?

Dive into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest with a curious little drupe known as the acai berryβ€”a powerhouse of nutrition and taste. Recognized for its deep purple hue and antioxidant properties, this berry forms the crown jewel of acai bowls, the health food sensation. Whether in frozen form, powder, or juice, acai boasts a distinctive flavor that's both tart and subtly earthy, making it an ideal candidate for a wide array of gastronomic creations, particularly the sought-after acai bowl recipe.

An Acai Bowl is a canvas of texture and flavors, beginning with a base of acai berry puree, served in a bowl, and garnished with a myriad of fresh fruits, grains, and syrups. A medley of health benefits tags along with the acai bowl, stemming from its generous dose of antioxidants, fiber, and fats essential for heart health. The sheer versatility of the dish allows for limitless creativityβ€”perfect for tailoring to your nutritional desires.

Are Acai Bowls Healthy?

Acai bowls have become synonymous with early morning healthy food culture, accredited to the nutrient-rich acai base. They commonly encompass a spectrum of fruits, nuts, and grains, boosting the nutrient quotient significantly. However, the secret to maintaining the healthiness of an acai bowl lies in vigilance over sugar content and portion control. When crafting your bowl, aim for a balance of ingredients and be mindful of the serving size to prevent an inadvertent calorie surge.

Steps to an Irresistible Acai Bowl

Freeze your fruit

Beforehand, take these actions to ensure your fruits are freezer-ready. Select fresh fruit that's ripe for peak flavor. After washing and prepping the fruit, segment it into bites for uniform freezing and blending ease. Lay the chunks on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, avoiding overlap. Add to the freezer until solid ensures they’re ready for their supporting role in your acai bowl.

Step 2: Prep your Toppings

Consider these varieties to your acai bowl toppings to embellish your bowl. Fresh fruits like blackberries, cranberries and banana slices yield a nutritive and flavor-packed layer. Add a boost of well-being with seeds or a sprinkle of granola for that desired crunch. A drizzle of honey, peanut butter or coconut flakes all adds natural sweetness to your bowl along with additional health benefits. Keep your favorite toppings sorted and at hand for speedy assembly. The beauty in it is the acai bowl is completely customizable.

Step 3: Blend Acai

When it comes to the blend, ensure your harmony of acai and other sweet fruits gives an even, silky consistency by opting for thawed acai fruit that merges willingly with frozen bananas, fruits and liquid choices. The final texture should resemble a dense, creamy ice-cream that stands up to the weight of toppings.

Step 4: Top Acai Bowl

Add depth to your acai bowl with a selection of your favorite toppings. The assortment of toppings, ranging from fruits to grains, should promise a delightful crunch and a splash of color. An optional drizzle of honey can introduce a whisper of sweetness and decadence.

How to make Acai Bowls in Advance

Stay ahead of the curve by preparing bowls beforehand. Blend the base mixture and freeze in individual portions. Prep and portion your toppings, storing them to retain their crispness. Thaw the base slightly prior to serving, then artfully arrange with toppings for a swift gourmet experience.

Choosing the Best Acai Puree or Powder

Navigate your acai selections with the following tips:

- Look for Purity: Aim for acai purees or powders devoid of additional sugars and artificial additives, as these dilute authenticity and health perks.

- Certification Matters: Organic acai products ensure a crop free from unwholesome chemicals.

- Quality Dehydration: Favor freeze-dried over spray-dried acai products to keep nutrients intact.

- Potency Counts: Check product density for a potent acai flavor and maximal nutrition.

- Evaluate Reviews: Consider consumer feedback and the reputation of brands to find the prime ingredient for your bowl.

- Striking the right chord between sweet and spicy makes all the difference. Play around until you find your ideal blend.

- The marinade isn't a step to skimp on. Patience here pays off in buckets of flavor.

- Your cooking method can make or break the textureβ€”seek that crispy nirvana.

- Applying the sauce at the right moment is pivotal. Too soon, and you lose its bright notes; too late, and it might not meld properly.

When Mangoes are Scarce

No semi-ripe mangoes? No problem. If you can, reach for the ripe mangoes if that's all you've got. They bring a sweeter touch that can be balanced with a nudge more heat. Skip the green, unripe mangoes, as they'll conflict with the recipe's warm and sweet symphony. If the sweetness needs a counterweight, a splash of lime can reintroduce the necessary tang to your sauce. Consider a twist with alternative fruit purΓ©es, but remember, this will send your recipe off on a new culinary tangent. If you cant find anything else frozen mango's can make for a great backup. This mango sauce is the heart and soul of our sweet and spicy wings so be sure to not skip! It sings of the tropics, balancing sweetness and heat in a high-wire act that dazzles with every bite.

Prep Now, Feast Later

Forward-thinking is the secret to culinary calm especially if making them for Super bowl or other gatherings. Prepare your wings in advance and simply reheat them or quickly bake them for effortless entertaining. Keep things fresh and crisp with a little fridge time, up to 3-4 days and a last-minute oven refresh. Stop the recipe after the first 40 minutes and place in fridge. When its the day of your event and you are ready remove from the fridge, add the spicy mango chicken marinade sauce ontop and continue on with the finale of the recipe. So, the next time you're looking for a dish that promises applause, remember this recipe and watch the smiles spread with every saucy, sticky bite.

Fall-Off-The-Bone Feast: Mastering Slow Cooker Braised Short Ribs at Home

Welcome to the tender, melt-in-your-mouth world of slow-cooked indulgence, where the rich flavors and succulent textures of delicious Braised Short Ribs take center stage. Slow cookers, our trusty kitchen allies, unlock the full potential of this hearty cut of beef, allowing it to simmer gently and tear apart to perfection. In this blog post, we're diving into the art of crafting the ultimate Slow Cooker Braised Short Ribsβ€”a dish that promises to transform your meal into a celebration of deep, comforting flavors. Whether you're a seasoned home cook or a slow cooker novice, you'll discover tips and tricks to making this classic recipe. The low and slow cooking process allows the flavors of the seasonings and broth to fully develop, resulting in a rich and flavorful dish.

Slow cooker braised short ribs are an incredibly flavorful and tender dish that can be easily prepared in a slow cooker. The key to making the perfect slow cooker braised short ribs is to brown the ribs before adding them to the slow cooker. This helps to create a flavorful crust on the outside of the ribs and helps to lock in the juices so that the ribs stay perfectly juicy and succulent. The slow cooking process helps to break down the tough fibers of the meat and creates an incredibly tender dish. The slow cooker should be set to low heat and left to cook for several hours until the ribs are tender and falling off the bone. The liquid used for braising should be a combination of beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, and herbs. Once the ribs are cooked, the liquid can be reduced to a thick and flavorful gravy for a delicious, slow-cooked meal.

What goes well with short ribs?

The ribs are typically served over a bed of mashed potatoes, but there are many options for sides that can be served alongside the short ribs for a complete meal. Roasted potatoes, buttered egg noodles, creamy mashed potatoes, sautΓ©ed mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted root vegetables, buttery green beans, garlic-parsley roasted carrots, grilled corn on the cob, sautΓ©ed kale, creamy polenta, and baked macaroni and cheese all pair wonderfully with slow cooked short ribs. For extra flavor, a sauce can be created with the braising liquid from the short ribs and served over the top. With a variety of side dishes, these short ribs can be served for any occasion. Enjoy a comforting meal with minimal effort today and savor the flavors of Slow Cooker Braised Short Ribs.

Should you sear short ribs before slow-cooking?

Slow cooking is becoming an increasingly popular cooking method, and one of the most popular dishes to make in a slow cooker is braised short ribs. Short ribs have a lot of flavor and a good amount of fat, and the slow cooking process helps to bring out that flavor even more. But before you can slow cook your short ribs, you need to sear them. Searing your short ribs before slow-cooking them helps to add flavor and color to the dish. The process of searing creates a caramelized, brown crust on the outside of the short ribs, which helps to create a more flavorful end product. The fat from the short ribs is rendered out during the searing process, which can help to create a richer flavor. The browned bits that are left behind during the searing process are packed with flavor and can be deglazed with a bit of liquid to make a flavorful sauce or gravy. Another reason I love the 360 Cookware Slow Cooker is you only have to dirty one pan to sear and slow-cook these short ribs. So, get out your slow cooker and try making some delicious slow-cooker braised short ribs today!

How do you store your leftover short ribs?

Slow cooker braised short ribs are a delicious and easy meal that can be made in advance and enjoyed any day of the week. The slow cooking process tenderizes the ribs, making them juicy and full of flavor. Plus, the leftovers can be stored for later! Refrigerate leftover short ribs in their cooking liquid in an air-tight container for maximum freshness and use within 3 days. If you want to store the short ribs longer, you can freeze them in an air-tight container or freezer bag for up to 3-4 months. To reheat, defrost the short ribs in the refrigerator and heat them in a pot on the stove or in the oven. Enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth short ribs with some mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons salted butter

3 pounds bone-in short ribs

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/2 tsp fresh cracked pepper

1 large yellow onion

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped carrots

4 cloves minced garlic

1/4 cup tomato paste

2 cups red wine

3 cups beef broth

2 bay leaves

2 sprigs fresh thyme

2 sprigs fresh rosemary

Instructions

1. Using your 360 Slow cooker plug the base in and turn to 3 setting. Add the pot to the stovetop on medium-high heat. Let warm and add butter to the pan and let melt.

2. While butter is melting pat dry short ribs and season with salt and pepper. Add to hot pan and sear on all sides for 5 minutes each. Remove from pan when done.

3. Add in garlic and saute until fragrant. Add in onion, celery and carrots. Sautee for 5-6 minutes and pour in wine. Let come to a simmer and continue until the wine reduces in size by half.

4. Once wine is reduced add in beef broth, bay leaves, thyme, rosemary and short ribs. Move the pot onto the slow cooker base, cover and cook for 6-8 hours or until meat is falling off the bone.

5. Remove short ribs and strain out vegetables. Return juice to pot and place over the stovetop on medium-high heat again. Let come to a simmer and cook until thickened. Serve short ribs over mashed potatoes and pour juices over top. Enjoy!

When Corn is Not In Season

Creamy Corn Chowder Soup is a classic comfort food that is both easy to prepare and delicious to eat. Corn is of course the star ingredient of this dish, but when it’s not in season, there are some great substitutes. Frozen corn can be used in place of fresh corn, or you can use canned corn if you prefer. If you want to add some veggies to the soup, you can include carrots, celery, and potatoes for a delicious and nutritious meal. To make the soup even more flavorful, you can season it with garlic, onion, and herbs. Then, add some cream, milk, and cheese to make it creamy and delicious. This soup is sure to be a hit with the whole family. Enjoy!

Cutting Corn off the Cob

Making creamy corn chowder soup is a simple and delicious way to enjoy corn any time of the year. To get started, begin by cutting the corn off the cob. It's important to use a sharp knife and to hold the cob firmly in one hand while you use the other to hold the knife. Using a cutting board will help to catch the kernels as you cut them. Be sure to cut close to the cob, but not too deeply into it. Once all the kernels are cut, you can scrape the cob with the back of the knife to get all the juice and flavor from it. Then the kernels can be added to the soup, where they will cook and become tender. Adding the kernels to the soup will give it a delicious and creamy texture, making it the perfect meal to enjoy in the summertime as well as in the winter.

What Potatoes to Use

Creamy Corn Chowder Soup is a classic, comforting dish perfect for any time of year. The key to a great pot of chowder is the potatoes, as they provide a creamy texture and flavor. Yukon Gold potatoes are the most popular choice for this soup, as they have a buttery flavor and creamy texture. If you’re looking for a slightly firmer texture, Russet potatoes are also a great option. Red potatoes add a slightly sweeter, earthier flavor to the dish, while Fingerling potatoes are the perfect size for a chunky soup. For a quicker cooking time, try using small baby potatoes because they will break down faster and give the soup a thicker texture. To maximize flavor, sautΓ© the potatoes in butter before adding them to the soup. With the right potatoes, you can easily create the perfect bowl of creamy corn chowder soup.

Reheating Left Overs

Creamy Corn Chowder Soup is a comforting and delicious meal that can easily be reheated and enjoyed as leftovers. To reheat the soup, simply place it in a saucepan over low heat on the stovetop and stir occasionally to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. To freeze the soup, let it cool completely before transferring it into an airtight container or a freezer-safe bag. When you’re ready to enjoy it, simply thaw it overnight in the refrigerator and reheat it on the stovetop or in the microwave. With its delicious combination of flavors, it’s sure to become a favorite in your household. Try this creamy corn chowder soup recipe today and see for yourself why it’s so popular.

What to Serve with Corn Chowder

Creamy Corn Chowder Soup is a delicious and hearty soup that can be paired with a variety of sides. To start, you can’t go wrong with a side of garlic bread to dip in the soup. Buttery crackers are also a great addition to the soup and can be topped with grated cheese or spices. A light and crunchy garden salad is a great contrast to the creaminess of the soup, and adding grilled cheese sandwiches or cornbread is a great way to make an entire meal out of the soup.

If you’re looking for some heartier sides options such as grilled shrimp, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, potato skins, and biscuits and gravy are all great choices. The fried pickles and fried green tomatoes provide a crunchy texture, while the potato skins & biscuits and gravy are great for adding a bit of comfort food flavor. No matter what sides you choose to serve with your Creamy Corn Chowder Soup, you’re guaranteed to have a delicious and comforting meal.

The combination of crunchy caramelized walnuts, sweet pears, and tangy honey mustard dressing make this salad an impressive yet simple dish to prepare. Plus, the ingredients are all easy to find and affordable. So, if you're looking for a flavorful and nutritious salad, look no further than this pear and walnut salad with honey mustard dressing. You can add some grilled chicken or salmon to the salad to make it a more complete and filling meal. This pear and walnut salad with honey mustard dressing is a great way to enjoy the flavors of Fall. Being full of nutrition-packed ingredients and delicious flavor combinations, this meal is sure to become a regular in your rotation, especially on those days when you're feeling like you need a healthier option.

Can I Use a Different Cheese or Nuts?

Of course! You don’t have to use feta cheese as I did, so you can experiment with different cheeses to create your favorite unique flavor. Consider using a sharp cheddar for a tangy kick, or a creamy goat cheese for a salty flavor. You can also try blue cheese or gorgonzola for a pungent flavor, or brie for a buttery taste. Have fun with it and find the cheese that best suits your salad. To top it off, a honey mustard dressing is a great way to bring all the flavors together.

Another substitution choice for this salad is changing out the nut that you use for that amazing crunch. I personally love the mix of walnuts and pears, however, you can use pecans or hazelnuts here as well.

What Type of Pear is Best?

Anjou pears are the perfect choice for a pear and walnut salad. This variety of pear is sweet and juicy, adding a delicious sweetness to the dish. Bosc pears are also a good option, as their firm texture and honey-like flavor bring a great depth to the salad. Bartlett pears are great for salads, as their mild sweetness will be balanced out nicely by the tartness of the dressing. Comice pears are a great choice as well, as their buttery texture and sweet flavor will perfectly complement the honey mustard dressing. Lastly, Seckel pears are the ideal choice for a pear and walnut salad, as their sweet flavor and crisp texture will provide a great contrast to the crunchy walnuts. With such an array of pears to choose from, you're sure to create an amazing salad that everyone will love!

How to tell when pears are ripe?

First, look for pears that are slightly soft to the touch and avoid pears that are firm and have green tints. The best pears for this dish will have a rich yellow or golden color. To test for ripeness, tap the pear lightly with your finger and if it yields to pressure then it is ripe. Additionally, smell the pear near the stem; if it has a sweet, fragrant smell, it is ripe. Lastly, test for ripeness by gently pressing the neck of the pear with your thumb; if it yields slightly, the pear is ripe. With these tips, you can easily find the perfect pear to make your pear & walnut salad with honey mustard dressing.

Perfect Pour: The Ultimate Guide to Choosing and Wrapping Wine as a Hostess Gift

Selecting the ideal wine for a hostess gift is a graceful art, a thoughtful gesture that conveys appreciation and elevates the dining experience. Whether you're attending a casual dinner party or an elegant soirΓ©e, the right bottle can serve as a delightful expression of good taste and gratitude for the evening's hospitality. In my view, the presentation of your gift is just as significant as the wine itself. In this blog post, we'll unveil the secrets to choosing the perfect wine (with a few of my favorites hailing from J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines) for your gracious host. We'll also explore creative and stylish wrapping techniques that will ensure your gift stands out, exuding sophistication and personal flair. Let's raise our glasses to the art of selecting and presenting wine, ensuring your hostess gift is as unforgettable as the occasion itself.

Wine is a great way to show your hostess how much you appreciate them. There are a variety of blends, flavors, and styles to choose from, so you can pick a bottle that best suits the tastes of your hostess. When deciding on the perfect bottle, it is important to consider the occasion and the number of people attending the gathering. Choose a bottle of wine that is made from a grape variety the hostess enjoys and select one that is of good quality but is also reasonably priced. To make the gift extra special, include a personal note along with the bottle to show you put a little extra thought into your gift. Wrap the wine bottle in festive paper or tulle with a bow to give it a beautiful presentation. To complete the gift, you can include a special bottle opener or corkscrew with the wine. When selecting a bottle of wine for a hostess gift, there are a few other things to consider.

First, choose a bottle of wine that you would enjoy yourself. The hostess is likely to open the bottle and share it with their guests, so make sure you pick something you would personally enjoy. Also consider the occasion and the hostess’s personal preferences. Consider a duo or trio of wine bottles with different flavors and styles to fit a crowd. You could consider selecting a bottle with a beautiful decorative label for a fantastic special touch that is pleasing to the eye. Depending on what is being served, you could consider a red or white varietal to fit the occation. If you’re not sure of the hostess’ preference, play it safe and go for a sparkling rosΓ© or a light, fruity white.

Once you’ve chosen the perfect bottle of wine, make sure to properly wrap it. Use tissue paper, tulle, ribbons, or a gift bag to give the gift an extra touch of thoughtfulness. You can make your wrapping paper using butcher paper and stamps, markers, or even paint. For a more luxurious presentation, consider wrapping the wine bottle in a cloth napkin or a decorative scarf. You can also add a few accessories such as a corkscrew, wine charms, or a wine aerator. Always include a card with a special message to make the gift even more meaningful.

What types of wine make the best hostess gifts for a dinner party or gathering?

Red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon are full-bodied and complex, making it a great option for a dinner party. Two of my favorites,  at great price points, are the J. Lohr Hilltop & J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon The J. Lohr Hilltop is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and pairs well with Ribeye steaks, a classic Christmas dish. The retail price for this wine is around  $35. For a more budget-friendly option without compromising on the great taste I love, I opt for the J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon. With 89% cabernet and fruit-forward notes, this medium-bodied red wine is another great choice for a hostess gift everyone will love!

For white wine, try a crisp and light chardonnay or a fruity sauvignon blanc. My personal go-to is the J. Lohr Arroyo Vista Chardonnay. This wine is comprised of 100% Chardonnay with tropical fruit notes and bright acidity. It's an amazing wine that is food-versatile, making it a great gift no matter what they serve. If you are looking to pair this wine, I recommend a crΓ¨me brie cheese, creamy mushroom polenta, chicken with Dijon mustard sauce, lobster, or crab with lemon butter. These dishes, celebrated for their rich and indulgent flavors, are often served throughout the holiday season. Another white wine that is a personal go-to is the J. Lohr Estates Riverstone Chardonnay which is also 100% Chardonnay and comes in under $15. This versatile wine pairs with a wide variety of foods, including fresh seafood risotto, mussels in white wine sauce, roast chicken with apples, and holiday ham or turkey. These wines from California’s Central Coast are perfect choices for gifting your hostess or for treating yourself this year!

These are all personal favorites of mine, which I like to keep readily available to express my gratitude for my hostess' hospitality, not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. These wines are excellent choices for any celebration. I hope you found some inspiring ideas for creatively wrapping your wine bottles to showcase the label and add a festive touch. Here's to a joyful and enchanting holiday season! Cheers!
