Strawberry Champagne Cake: A Perfectly Sparkling Treat for Any Occasion
/In the dessert world, few treats can match the sophistication and charm of a Strawberry Champagne Cake. This sweet recipe combines the sweetness of strawberries with the elegance of champagne, creating a cake that is truly memorable. Whether you're planning a lavish event, an intimate celebration, or a casual get-together, this cake offers the perfect centerpiece that is sure to impress your guests. Let's explore how you can create this delicious dessert in your kitchen and why it's the perfect choice for any special occasion.
Begin your kitchen adventure by preparing the cake batter, which is a delicious blend of champagne and fresh strawberry purée. The champagne adds a subtle sparkle, while the strawberries provide a burst of fruity flavor. The incorporation of champagne in the batter lightens the crumb and adds a depth of flavor that elevates the cake beyond the ordinary.
Once the batter is prepared, distribute it evenly among your cake pans to ensure even baking. Bake until each layer turns a light golden brown, indicating a perfect rise and a soft crumb. Remember to allow the cakes to cool fully before assembly, as this prevents the frosting from melting into the cake layers. As the cake cools, you can prepare the delicious champagne-infused buttercream frosting. Its smooth, creamy texture complements the cake's airy layers, and the champagne infusion mixes together perfectly with the cake, enhancing the overall taste experience.
Once the cake rounds have cooled, it's time to assemble and decorate. Layer the cooled rounds generously with the champagne frosting, adding a layer of fresh sliced strawberries between each tier for extra texture and flavor. This not only gives the cake additional notes of fresh strawberry but also adds a delightful bite. Finally, cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting. For an elegant finish, garnish with whole strawberries and a sprinkle of champagne bubbles or edible gold dust for an added touch of glamour that your guests will adore.
Ways To Decorate the Cake
This luxurious dessert isn’t just a great treat, it’s also a centerpiece for celebrations like weddings, anniversaries, or elegant brunches. The combination of fresh strawberries and sparkling champagne creates a sophisticated flavor profile that impresses everyone lucky enough to enjoy. No matter the event, this cake’s great look and taste make it an unforgettable addition to any gathering. Pair it with a glass of bubbly for a truly special experience that elevates your special day. The visual appeal of this cake is as perfect as its taste. It is often adorned with layers of creamy frosting and crowned with fresh, juicy strawberries, and creates a stunning centerpiece fit for any celebration. The possibility of adding elegant touches such as champagne bubbles, fresh strawberries or edible gold makes this cake not just a treat for the taste buds but a feast for the eyes as well.
For the Strawberry Frosting
The best part of this Strawberry Champagne Cake is its strawberry frosting, perfectly made to enhance the natural flavor of the fresh strawberries. This rich and creamy frosting starts with pureeing ripe strawberries and reducing them to a concentrated syrup. This process intensifies the fruit's essence and transforms it into the winning piece for the cake. To achieve the perfect creamy consistency, softened butter is whipped until fluffy, then blended with the concentrated strawberry syrup, adding a natural pink color and a burst of berry freshness. A touch of vanilla extract enhances the strawberry essence, while a pinch of salt balances out the sweetness. Powdered sugar is gradually incorporated to provide the ideal level of sweetness, creating a silky-smooth frosting that complements the light, bubbly texture of the champagne-infused cake. Pairing perfectly with the cake's subtle champagne notes, the strawberry frosting helps make this Strawberry Champagne Cake one great dessert. You can also use fresh strawberry filling or the puree all on its own as both delicious alternatives.
How To Properly Store The Cake
To ensure your Strawberry Champagne Cake stays fresh and maintains its delicious flavors, proper storage is essential. First, allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature before considering storage options. If you have leftover slices, wrap each piece individually in plastic wrap to minimize exposure to air and prevent the cake from drying out. For short-term storage, place the wrapped slices in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to three days. If you want to extend the shelf life of your cake, consider freezing it. Simply wrap the individual slices or the whole cake (without frosting) tightly in plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil or place it in a freezer-safe container. When properly sealed, the Strawberry Champagne Cake can maintain its delicious taste and texture for up to two months in the freezer. When you're ready to enjoy a slice, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bring it to room temperature before serving to fully savor the cake's flavors. By following these storage tips, you ensure that each bite of your Strawberry Champagne Cake is as moist and flavorful as the first time you enjoyed it.
Ingredients:
Cake:
3 large eggs
3 large egg whites
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 cup champagne
2 tbsp. melted butter
3 tsp. vanilla
1 - 1/2 cup sugar
2-1/4 cups cake flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup grated butter
1/2 cup strawberry puree
Frosting:
1 cup butter
8 oz cream cheese
5 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup strawberry puree
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup champagne
Instructions:
1. Prep by oiling 3 circle pans (6”) and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Whisk gently together eggs, melted butter and vanilla in mixing bowl.
3. In a separate mixing bowl combine dry ingredients.
4. Grate butter on top of dry ingredients. Combined by hand until butter is no larger than pea sizes.
5. Next up add in wet ingredients and blend together with electric mixer until well combined on medium speed. Then add in champagne & strawberry puree. Using electric mixer until blended once more, making sure to keep on low and not over mixing.
6. Once combined put into 3 pans that are oiled and put into oven. 27-30 min or until wooden pick inserted comes out clean. Once cake is done baking let cool in pan for 15 min and transfer to cooling rack for another 15.
7. Blend together all frosting ingredients until well combined. (butter and cream cheese should be room temp if not heat in microwave for 30 sec at a time) You can add more champagne or powdered sugar depending on desired consistency. I sometimes choose to double the recipe for an even thicker layer on the outside.
8. Ice layers of cake and do a thin later around for a “crumb layer” that will catch all the crumbs and then make a base for the final layer. Place in fridge for 30 min and then do another layer of frosting. I enjoy piping small circles on top with a piping bag and adding cherries to each one. This also helps when cutting so I know how big to make each slice. Cut, Serve and Enjoy!
