The 7 Essential Apps You Need To Plan Your Next Vacation

Are you ready to plan your next adventure? The recent saying "There's an app for that" rings true with me and my planning. With the right apps, you can easily plan and organize your next trip. Whether you're planning your dream vacation or just a weekend getaway, the 7 apps you need to plan your next trip will help to make the most of your journey. From booking flights and hotels to deciding where to eat, these apps will make planning your next trip the easiest one yet. Read on to find out which apps you need to make your next trip a success! Whether you are road trippers, jet setters, or a little of both these apps will help you plan the best trip possible!

I take vacation planning VERY seriously. Mostly because when I arrive at my destination I want to make sure I am enjoying every minute of it. Who wants to deal with spending time in the room scrambling trying to get those last-minute tickets, finding places to eat, or activities to do. Worrying you may miss out on something last second can cause you to miss more of your precious time than you thought. I usually plan one day at a time with a full itinerary of times and exactly how long it will take to get to each location. I also incorporate restaurant reservations and a backup list of places we can go in case something doesn’t work out. Now I know this is a little excessive, but I’ve got that type-A personality and am always planning life out. So let's make this all a little simpler and I’ll give you the 7 apps and travel planning websites I am always using and what I am using them for. This will help you more than you can imagine whether you are traveling internationally or right here domestically!

IMG_6790.JPG

1st - Hotel App

If you travel often it's important to have a hotel chain you prefer, and one that is accessible almost anywhere, even if you venture out and stay elsewhere from time to time. Staying more frequently with one hotel company will help you gain points for free stays, get room upgrades and occasionally get extra benefits like free internet connection, dinner, drinks, and welcome amenities. I am currently an IHG user, primarily because I have been obsessed with Kimpton Hotels ever since the hubby and I stayed at one in Washington D.C. over 6 years ago. They went above and beyond for us and each hotel is so uniquely designed. There are many hotel companies to choose from, so I would pick the one you’ve had the best experience with and try and stick with it. You will benefit from this the most. Using your hotels app will help you find all the local hotels along with the amenities you want, pricing, location and much more!

2nd - Pinterest

This is probably a no-brainer! Let me tell you how I use it though to give you an added boost! I search the location I am going (for example lets say Chicago for the time being). I will search traveling to Chicago and scroll through the hundreds of blog posts that are telling me all the great attractions to see, eat, and stay. I will start compiling a list of the places they each write about as their favorites. As I go through each post you will start to see doubles, this is when I add stars on my little list next to each place that comes up multiple times. One star for each time I see it. You will start to see trends of the most popular places in each of the categories and what are the must-sees while you visit!

3 - Yelp

Next, I head over to Yelp. Here I will go from the top places to eat and see what lines up with the places that all my Pinterest peeps are saying to go along with the locations near our sightseeing. I may read a review or two but I won't waste too much time on it. Someone will always have a bad experience, no matter the place, and if there are too many bad ones they will be near the end of Yelp's list of hundreds of restaurants and I probably won't get that far anyway.

4 - TripAdvisor

Now I check TripAdvisor to cross reference my hotel choices, sightseeing places, and restaurants one more time. They will also have some articles you can read from local magazines, newspapers and big travel companies.

IMG_6700.JPG

5 - Instagram

Now that you have a huge list of restaurants and sightseeing activities along with hotel choices likely picked out, make sure to hit the Gram. This is when I go through and search the vibe of the properties and what they look like aesthetically for photos along with upcoming events that may be coming up while I’m in town. I of course see if it will be a dressy location or if we're okay to go to dinner dressed in the same clothes we just toured the town with. Also as a blogger, I use this to see if I can find some great photo ops. I also use Instagram to save places I see and refer back to. So, sometimes I start in that saved folder on IG first before I even start at #2 on Pinterest and then come back to the checkout location and plan outfits. Both are great ways to plan and make this an invaluable app to use!

6. United App

Just like using a hotel company consistently, I like to use an airline consistently to have an ongoing membership that will rack up points. Other exclusive perks that come with using one airline and/or having a credit card with them are United club passes to the club lounge at the airports, upgraded seats, free check bags and many more perks! This also is the best way to carry your boarding pass and get your flight confirmations. As well as gives you options for alternative flights and for switching seats along with tons of additional information.

7. Maps

The last apps I use in my planning are MapQuest or Google Maps. I use these apps to look at the locations of where the restaurants, museums, event centers and everything else I am going to see is actually located. This helps me plan the restaurants I want to go to according to when we are in the area during our trip. One thing you never have enough of on vacation is time, so it's always best to plan things geographically together, especially if it's in really big countries or cities. You don’t want to see a museum uptown, head to lunch downtown, and then the next thing your seeing is back uptown. Planning one day all in the same location and the next day in the other helps save time so you can do more of what you love, seeing the beautiful places you are traveling. This also gives the length of transportation so I know if we will be needing a car on our trips, mostly walking, or using an Uber or cab.

I hope this list of fantastic apps/websites I use to plan my travels help you. My husband and I love to travel so much, and honestly planning before we go is one of my favorite parts. I love food, probably too much, so I always want to make sure we are having the most amazing and popular dishes when we travel. I also try to see as much as we possibly can because who knows if we will ever go back. Let me know if you use these Apps the next time you plan a trip. As always I love to hear from you and get your feedback and ideas. Be sure to sign up for my subscription to get the latest news on travel, recipes and all things from amandawarrenblog.com -here-

5 Tips When Shopping For Jumpsuits For A Pear Shaped Body

Taking on the world of fashion and finding styles that flatter your unique body shape can sometimes be a struggle. If you're blessed with a pear-shaped body — meaning your lower body is wider than your upper body, rest assured that there are plenty of fashionable clothing options that can beautifully highlight your curves - and one of them is the ever-versatile jumpsuit. Shopping for the perfect jumpsuit when you're pear-shaped doesn't have to be daunting. In this blog post, we will share five essential tips to guide you in your journey of finding the ideal jumpsuit for curvy body that balances, harmonizes, and celebrates your fantastic pear silhouette. Let's dive in!

For years I wouldn’t buy jumpsuits because I always thought they didn’t look good on girls with hips and a booty. It took me a while to figure out these 5 important factors to think about so that I didn’t have to stand on the side lines anymore. I too could look like a boss in a jumpsuit just like all the tall skinny girls around me! You can too!

1. Size

Just because you can wear a size small top doesn’t mean your jumpsuit should be that size. You need to size for the bottom half first and worry about the top second. If you are wearing it too small on the bottom it will bunch up and never sit right. You can later adjust the the top of your jumpsuit to better fit you by alternations giving you a better structured definition to fit your shape.

2. Straps

Adjustable Straps are your friend! If you went up a size on the bottom the straps being adjustable will help you maneuver the top to fit you just right. Halter tops like the one I am wearing in the photos below are also so flattering and have beautiful necklines as well. However, if your jumpsuit isn't adjustable, don’t be afraid you head to your local seamstress and get the straps and everything else you need taken in to fit you correctly. This will be the difference between an okay outfit and an outfit that looks like it was made for you!

3.Length

Speaking of adjusting, make sure the bottom half lies right. If your pants are too long they will bunch up on the bottom and make you look even shorter instead of giving you a long lean look that a jumpsuit should give. This attention to detailing makes sure your jumpsuit has the right fit that will be an even more flattering streamlined look for your beautiful shape.

4. Material

The material will make all the difference for you apple bottom girls! Something with a little stretch is perfect in this case. Just like the jumpsuit above! Even though it's denim it stretches to fit your body better. Again, be careful not to get anything too tight with stretch or it won't look flattering either. If you end up getting anything light weight be sure they have an underlining as well, you don’t want any peekaboos. Another great material I love is linen or silk it lays soft and gives a great aesthetic.

5. Waist

When it comes to curves, accentuating them correctly can take you from looking like you're wearing a potato sack to looking like your favorite celebrities walking the runway. Finding a jumpsuit that accentuates your waistline will help give you go from a rectangle shape to that sexy hourglass shape. Helpful hint, ff you found one that doesn’t accentuate your waistline adding a belt will help draw it in and give the perfect balanced hourglass shape.

Half-up hairstyles are an effortless way to add a bit of flair to your look. But sometimes, braids can be too time-consuming and intricate for a quick and easy style. The knotted style is a great alternative. It’s a simple half-up hairstyle done on dry hair and requires just a few simple steps.

Start by gathering a section of your hair from the crown of your head and tie it into a knot. Secure the knot with a few bobby pins and gently tug on the ends of the knot to create a fuller, more voluminous look. If desired, add a few decorative pins or clips for extra style. Finish the look with a light hairspray to keep your hair in place.

The knotted style is perfect for any occasion, from casual to formal. It’s a great way to add a bit of sophistication to your look without having to spend hours braiding. Plus, it’s an easy hairstyle that you can create in just a few minutes.

When I was a little girl we used to do these all the time but back then we did them on a ponytail. Now, they have made them more intricate and detailed and are doing them as half-up styles, pigtails, and updos.

  1. Section your hair and secure it with a rubber band.

  2. Make a small hole with your fingers in between the hair above the rubber band.

  3. Pull hair in a rubber band through the hole.

  4. Deconstruct and make it bigger by pinching and pulling hair until it's as loose as you desire.

The Pony Flip is a great way to add some volume and texture to your hair without having to braid it. With this style, you can go from casual to glamorous in no time.

3. The Bubble Style

Half-up hairstyles are a great way to show off long locks without having to braid your hair. One such style is the Bubble Style. This easy-to-create style requires sectioning the hair into multiple sections and securing each with an elastic band, creating small “bubbles” throughout the hair. This half-up style is perfect for those with long, thick locks, as the elastic bands help hold the hair up and keep it from becoming too heavy.

Creating the Bubble Style is simple and quick. All you need is a few elastic bands and a brush to section the hair. This is probably the easiest, yet most fun style! All you need are little rubber bands and your fingers to pinch and pull and make your bubbles to the size you want them! Tip: wrap hair around each elastic as you are going onto each section.

4. Hair Wrapping Faux Braid

This look is achieved by wrapping small sections of hair around each other, creating the illusion of a braid without the actual braiding process. It's great for all hair types and textures, and you can easily customize it with accessories like ribbons or bobby pins to make it more formal or casual.

This style involves many elastics and a lot of pinch and pulling, but not a single braid!

  1. Section crown section of hair and backcomb if you are looking for more volume at the roots. Not secure into an elastic.

  2. Take the remainder of the hair half up style it into another pony and tighten with elastic.

  3. Now take a top pony and split it around the bottom pony and secure it with elastic on the other side (leaving the second pony hanging through the hole.)

  4. Continue until you have no hair left and secure together with the final elastic.

  5. Pinch and pull hair to make a fuller look and mimic a braid.

5. Twist Half-Up Style

This adorable style is a simple yet sophisticated look that doesn’t require a lot of effort. This look is perfect for everyday wear, or for more formal occasions. It is also easy to customize, so you can add a few curls or waves to give your half-up hairstyle a unique cascading curls look. Leaving sides of half up style, tease and pin into place in the crown area. Now take each side sections that were left out and twist, pinch and pull. Pin going across and covering pins that held crown into place. This gives a simple yet adorable style perfect for a wedding or even for just an everyday look!

6. The Fabric Wrap

This last look is such a simple style and so much fun! You can make this all your own with straight or textured hair and you can use any fabric you choose to make this look unique to you! First, you section the hair out that you want to be in the half-up style. Next, secure it with an elastic band. Finally, wrap it with the ribbon or fabric of your choice and BAM! A stunning and simple way to dress up your next half-up style!

10 Count Guide To Picking The Perfect Outfit Everytime!

When I was fresh out of high school I was crowned “Dairy Princess” of my hometown. This meant I traveled around educating people about the importance of milk and dairy products with the Real California Milk Advisory. Right after getting my sash and crown they shipped me out of town to learn all there is about milk, speaking and etiquette. I learned many things on that trip, but the two big things I still use today are, the 10 counting steps to picking the perfect outfit, and dinner etiquette. I know you are here for all the fashion 411 so lets dive right in!

IMG_0320.jpg

Each piece of clothing, hair accessory, hat, bag, jewelry, shoes are all 1 point. If the item has a print, sequins or anything that makes it more than a neutral piece it is 2 points. The etiquette class explained to never go over 10 points, but also not to go under 5, at the risk of being a bit boring and not having that sparkle factor.

  • As shown above the green dress with flowers would be 2 points.

  • The hat would be 1 point.

  • The bag could be 1 or 2 points depending on what you wear it with. If I wore it with the dress I would say 1 point.

I am a bit basic as I’ve gotten older so I mostly use this when I am about to leave the house and want to make sure I have enough points. When they first taught me this method I had a print skirt, tiara, sash and a sequined sweater among other things. Lets just say I was well above 10! Here are a few examples of my everyday outfits and how I count them!

It’s always fun to push the boundaries and make your style uniquely yours! This is my way of helping ensure I have classic, beautiful outfits in many different styles! I Hope this helps you in your evolution of your own fashion game….and never forget to do so following proper etiquette!

Balayage Vs. Highlights: What's right for you?

Trying to decide between Balayage and Highlights for your next hair transformation? There are many factors to consider, including your hair type and desired results. Whether you want an on-trend color or something more classic, I’ll walk you through the differences between Balayage and Highlights, so you can make an informed decision on which is right for you. As a former stylist behind the chair, I have walked many of my clients through this very thing.

Balayage Vs Highlights: Explaining the Differences

When it comes to deciding what kind of coloring technique is right for you, it is important to consider both balayage and highlights. For those looking for a softer, more natural look, balayage is the way to go. This freehand technique is applied lightly at the roots and gradually gets lighter down the hair, creating a natural sun-kissed look. It is also a low-maintenance style that doesn’t require regular touch-ups, so it is a great option for those who don’t want to spend a lot of time at appointments for their hair.

Highlights, on the other hand, are a foil-based technique that gives the hair a more intense, multi-dimensional look. It is applied in sections, giving a more distinct separation between the natural color and the highlights. While they are not as expensive as balayage, you will be in the salon more often for touch ups as they need to be touched up every few months.

Ultimately, the decision of which technique is best for you depends on your hair color, budget, and desired look. Both balayage and highlights are great options for adding dimension and color to your hair, so take the time to weigh your options and choose the one that is right for you.

What is Balayage? (Photos of past clients with Balyage above)

When it comes to achieving the perfect natural sun-kissed hair look, Balayage is often the go-to choice. Balayage is a French word meaning “to sweep”, and it is a technique used to create soft, natural looking highlights. This technique involves painting the hair in a sweeping motion, usually with a large brush or small comb, to create natural looking highlights throughout the hair to create subtle, natural-looking movement in the hair. Balayage looks more natural than traditional highlights and leaves no light of demarcation. The color is applied in sections, so you can achieve a more blended result without hard lines. You can even choose the level of lightness or darkness you want to achieve with Balayage, making it a great option for anyone looking for a customized color. Balayage is also low maintenance, as you don't have to touch up the color as often. If you’re looking to add lightness to your hair without the commitment of traditional highlights, Balayage is a great choice. With its natural look, customizability, and low maintenance, Balayage is an ideal choice for those looking to add some subtle color to their hair.

You also have a variation of Balayage called "The Ombré" it is a combination of both highlights and balayage where the top of the hair is lightened, and the ends are darker. This allows you to maintain your natural color while still creating an effortless lighter look. The Ombré is great for those who want to add dimension to their hair without committing to a full-on highlight or balayage. It’s also a great way to transition from darker to lighter hair without the harsh line of demarcation that can come with a full-on highlight.

What are Highlights?

Highlights are sections of hair that are lightened with a hair lightener and then toned to the desired color. They are usually thicker and more uniform in size than balayage and can often be seen from the root. Highlights are a great way to add dimension to your hair and they tend to be brighter than balayage. Highlights are ideal for those who want a more traditional look and for those who want a more dramatic structured change.

They have been around forever, come in different forms, and are usually wrapped in foil. Highlights give you a compact and even color appearance. By wrapping in a foil it makes for an even lift when using lightener. Still able to use highlights in many colors and tones, you will be able to change the look and make it your own. Nowadays stylists are doing what we call a “shadow root”. This gives a darker base color on your highlights about a 1/2 inch to an inch to give your hair a better grow out process and leaving less of a demarcation line.

You also have a variation called babylights are a type of highlight that creates a softer, subtler look than traditional highlighting techniques. They are typically done using very thin, delicate strands of hair. This technique results in natural-looking highlights that look like they’ve been kissed by the sun. Babylights are perfect for those looking to add subtle dimension to their hair without the dramatic effect of traditional highlights. They are also great for those who want to add lightness around their face without making a drastic change.

Below are photos of highlights (left) vs adding a show root to highlights (right)

What’s Right for You?

The best choice for you depends on the look you are trying to achieve and the amount of maintenance you want to put into your style. If you’re looking for a classic, uniform look, highlights are the way to go. However, if you’re more interested in a more natural, less uniform look, then balayage is the better choice.

How to Keep Your Balayage or Highlights Healthy

If you’re looking for a way to change up your hair color, you may be considering balayage or highlights. Both of these techniques can create beautiful, natural-looking color when done correctly, but it’s important to understand the differences between them. Balayage and highlights can both be used to lighten or darken the overall look of your hair and add dimension and texture. No matter which technique you choose, there are a few tips to keep in mind to protect your color.

1. Avoid washing your hair every day if possible, and limit it to two or three times a week.

2. Using a color-safe shampoo and conditioner is also important to help protect your color.

3. Deep conditioning your hair regularly will keep it hydrated, and using a color-protecting spray or oil before heat styling is a great way to keep your color looking vibrant.

4. Avoid using hot styling tools, swimming pools with chlorine, and going out into the sun without protecting your hair with a UV protection spray.

5. Trimming your hair regularly will also help keep it healthy and strong.

By following these tips, you can be sure that your hair color will look amazing no matter if you choose balayage or highlights. Ultimately, the decision comes down to what look you’re going for, and what you’re comfortable with. So, take the time to do your research and have a consultation with your stylist to make sure you get the look you want.

You will find it hard to resist the delicious aromas of Tuscan cuisine that drift through the air, or the cheerful laughter and conversations of the locals. It is an experience that will stay with you long after you have returned home. With its stunning views and unique atmosphere, the Ponte Vecchio and Florence, Italy is a must-visit destination for any traveler.

Where to Eat

Trattoria ZaZa

You will want to make reservations ahead of time here, the lines can get really long, but are totally worth it. The Food was so amazing here! We had a pasta dish with truffles that came recommended by our waiter and the Florentine steak. We ordered our steak as recommended by our waiter which I totally recommend as well.

Trattoria Sostaza

If you are going to eat anywhere in Florence, EAT HERE! Believe me when I tell you this will be the best Chicken of your life. Yes Chicken. I can still taste the delicious and amazing flavor. It will be one of the best things you ever eat. Often frequented by celebs and locals alike, there was a huge line as the small restaurant doors opened for business the afternoon we arrived. So be sure to make a reservation!

Osteria dell’Enteca

The most divine selection of wine and food. Again, you want a reservation for this delicious place, and it may be a bit out of the way depending on where you spend your time but will totally be worth it!

All’ Antico Vinaio

On our way out of town we stopped to pick up sandwiches for our train ride to Rome. We were able to pick up our sandwiches very quickly. However, we walked by here on the weekend and the line was down the street.

From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, you'll find something to do no matter the weather. Explore Seattle's vibrant neighborhoods, dine on delicious cuisine, and experience all that this city has to offer.

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY ONE

As soon as we landed we hit the ground running! By 9am we had already dropped off our bags and were seated at the cutest restaurant overlooking the water above Pikes Place Market. Lowell’s had food just as good as the view. You wont want to miss this breakfast! Once we fueled up we were ready to explore. We shopped throughout Pikes Place where we watched the famous throwing of the fish, smelled all the fresh Peonies and checked out all the yummy looking food!

IMG_7993.JPG
IMG_7911.JPG

After exploring we hopped in an Uber and headed to the Seattle Mariners game! We grabbed some beers, garlic fries and sat in some excellent seats behind home plate! When teams aren't quite as good, or don't have the biggest fan base, or because its a mid week game you can often get seats like these for a steal! You know what that means…more money for shopping later!

Once the game was over we opted to walk with the rest of the crowd back towards our hotel and get our room situated. We stayed at the Kimpton Palladian Hotel. With its moody modern feel and being walking distance from Pikes Place, this was a perfect feel for us!

Now that we were all checked in we headed down to the Seattle waterfront and rode their famous ferris wheel before having a beautiful dinner over looking the water at Elliott’s Oyster House. They had the most amazing salmon we had ever had!

Taking a gorgeous walk along the water back to our hotel we spotted the first ever Starbucks! Although the last thing either of us needed was coffee we couldn’t pass up the fact that there was no line!! (This is unheard of! The lines are usually so long to get a coffee here. So I highly suggest going right before they close!)

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY TWO

Waking up on Day 2 was my hubby’s actual birthday. He wanted to start it off no other way than with a great workout. Yeah, he’s one of those people.. (insert eye roll emoji) lol! Peep the photo of the hotel gym.. we also scout out where we will be staying according to if they have a gym. Yes, you can insert another eye roll if you like!

Now that we got the workout out of the way.. we headed out to…you guessed it…eat. Lets face it, we only workout so we can eat more! At the top of the Space Needle they have a restaurant called SkyCity, we headed here for brunch on the rotating top! Such a cool experience, with great food! Even a smoking dessert for the birthday boy! Our meal came with a voucher for visiting the next level on the Space Needle.

Next we walked a couple steps over to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. Talk about out of this world and such a unique experience you can only see in Seattle. Peep the photos below for how amazing it all was.

Now that our bellies were full and our minds full of art we called an uber and headed 30 min north of the city to the winery Chateau Ste. Michelle. Their Riesling was one of the first wines I ever started drinking. I have them to thank for my delicious habit. They have the most beautiful venue with free tours going all day and a large tasting room. They also do huge concerts throughout the year. We were one day late on our trip for seeing John Ledged. Be sure to check them out it was totally work the cost of the uber!

After a long day of fun we headed back to the hotel for a quick 20 min nap.. (its tiring drinking all that wine!) and a change of clothes before dinner. We ate at the Metropolitan Grill. One of my all time favorite restaurants we have been to. The food was amazing and the staff was the very sweetest! It’s no wonder its a favorite spot for Russell Wilson! My mouth is literally watering as I am typing this. If you don't go anywhere I suggest on this blog.. Go here!

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY THREE

Woke up a little later today after sleeping in, ordering room service, and packing up for check out. We ran, literally, to catch the ferry to Bainbridge Island. I felt like I was on an episode of Greys Anatomy.. looking everywhere for McDreamy with no luck. Bainbridge is a cute little town, something out of a Hallmark movie with all the charm and quiet town vibes. We walked and admired the beauty all the way to the local diner, featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! If it's on triple D’s we go! Two orders of burgers, fries and milkshakes later we were headed back on the windy ferry.

Once back on ground in Seattle we hopped in another Uber and went to Theo Chocolate Factory for a tour and delicious tasting! (Although we don't see much of these chocolate bars in Cali we did JUST see them in Yosemite last week!) Not far from the chocolate factory is the Fremont Troll which is a local tourist spot for photos that is nestled in between homes and under a bridge.

Back to Pike Place Market for a little shopping and some more FOOD! I am a terrible influence on vacation, but Beecher’s mac and cheese had to be sampled and it was oh so worth it!!

After a little exploring we picked up our bags from the hotel and headed to the cutest train station. Heading to Portland next, the train ride was super easy and convenient. We use Amtrak often on our trips over driving whenever we can get a straight shot. This gives us time to read, sleep, eat some more, and not have to deal with driving and traffic when getting around.

An Unforgettable Experience: The Perfect Surprise Trip To Denver

Surprising your family or friends with a trip to Denver, Colorado is the perfect way to show how much you care. Denver is an amazing city with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. From outdoor adventures to historical landmarks, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Denver, Colorado. Here, we will cover the best ways to plan the perfect surprise trip to Denver, so you can make the most of your vacation.

We went for a “Surprise” trip for the hubs birthday last June. Although I didn't tell him where we were going just that it took a plane to get there, he somehow guessed it! We go on trips every year to see new baseball stadiums, so I think he knew that was one we hadn't been to. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time!

Where We Stayed:

Kimpton Hotel Born

I have been obsessed with Kimpton hotels for a few years now, so of course I had to find one on this trip as well! This hotel was just as amazing as all the others and was about 10 steps from Union Station. A beautiful location and views of the Union Station Trains. They have a nightly wine hour, that sometimes has beer and appetizers! Delish! This hotel also had a Tesla for the hotel car and could take you to wherever you needed to go around the city. Score!

What Restaurants To Visit:

Sam’s #3 Breakfast - Such great breakfast, and super packed so be ready to wait! With 3 locations in Denver you will be sure to find one to eat at. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have over 100 items on the menu, so everyone will love it! It was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, so that's basically why we went there.

Linger - Such a trendy and cute place with a menu that makes you feel like you just got on Disney’s Soaring Around the World. It lists food by places around the world. We loved everything we ate and enjoyed the views just as much! Save room because the little man ice cream is located just below and tastes just as delish!

Little Man Ice Cream - YUM! I love ice cream more than the average person so we of course ate here more than once on our trip and both times were just as delicious! The cutest little spot is located just outside of Linger and has so many different flavors! Again be ready to wait in line, its longer at night but totally worth the wait!

Denver Biscuit & Co - My mouth is watering as I type. It was that good! Everything biscuits and they even have stacks of games to play as you wait for a table or your food. Super cute, fun and delicious!

Bacon Social House - Although this location was nowhere near our hotel or anywhere we were going, we just had to! Plus it was a trip for the hubs birthday and he says “Anything is good with bacon on it” all the time so it was a perfect place to have our last breakfast in Denver! You must get the Bacon Flight, its so good! Everything, even the non bacon items, were amazing!

It looks like we mostly ate at breakfast places but other places I found to eat at but never got a chance to try were:

  • Lucile’s Creole Café (Beignets)

  • Spinelli’s Market (Deli)

  • Sugar Bakeshop and Coffee House (Homemade Poptarts)

  • Comida (Mexican)

What To Do:

Coor’s Brewery Tour - This is about 35 min from the hotel in Denver we stayed at and is in Golden, Colorado. When arriving you want to go to the parking lot, the line for the tour starts there. You can’t take any purses or bags into the building, so if you got there by an Uber like we did you can put your purse in a locked box across the street in a liquor store. Kind of sketchy but everything was fine when I picked it back up! (thank goodness!) The tour doesn't take long and they give you samples along the way, if you like beer. The hubs drank for us both!

Rocky Mountains Tour - Such a great experience. The tour we went on was Discover Rocky Mountain National Park from Denver, link here, it was full day with lots to see and full of knowledge from our driver about the area. Lunch is included along with a stop on the way home at the Stanley hotel. This is where the Shining and Dumb and Dumber scenes were filmed. The tour picks you up right out fron of the Union Station in Denver, which is perfect if you are staying at the Kimpton Born, it will take you about 2 min to walk across to the front of the station.

Walk Denver - Take a walk down 16th street where they have many shops, places to eat and the cutest pianos that are all decorated differently and you can enjoy playing on. Another great place to walk around is Larimer Square, such a cute spot to explore with many boutique shops and delicious places to eat.

Union Station - This was by far my favorite part of Denver. The CUTEST place to hangout and have a drink. People are walking in and out at all times, playing games and have a drink. There are some cute places to look at, including BLOOM a super cute flower stand that I couldn't help but take a picture by!

Mile High Stadium - Even if you aren't in town for a game its fun to do a tour. I even enjoyed getting to see all the behind the stadium tour of how everything is ran. Of course I’m sure the hubs enjoyed it more than I did, he is the only football fan at our house after all.

Coors Field - Now the real reason we went all the way to the mile high city! To see our 16th stadium of the 30 Major League stadiums. Always a great time seeing a game, grabbing a beer, and eating whatever the most popular food is at the stadium. This stadium was known for the rocky mountain oysters. (they taste like chicken)

Thanks for following along our fun trip to Denver, Colorado! One last tip I have for you is to ride the train from the airport to Union station. Super easy, fast and you save some extra money for all that beer you’ll be drinking!

If you’ve been to Denver, Colorado and have a favorite spot I didn't list, I would love to hear about it for my next trip! It really was a great place to visit! Enjoy your travels!

My Fast Cure for Acne: Unlock the Benefits of Indian Healing Clay & Apple Cider Vinegar

Having suffered from acne for years, I was desperate to find a solution that wouldn't require me to invest in expensive treatments or harsh creams. After some research, I stumbled upon a fast cure for acne that changed my life! I'm talking about Indian Healing Clay and Apple Cider Vinegar. In this blog post, I will share the simple steps for how to use this simple and powerful combination for a fast cure for acne-prone skin and clogged pores.

Are you suffering from acne that started in your teenage years and continued through adulthood? My joke to myself was “I’ll have acne right until the wrinkles start to set in”. WRONG! Wrinkles are coming and this darn acne is not leaving! I have seen so many dermatologists and done everything I can to help fight the battle! Certain products seem to really help, but others are just a quick fix and it basically all comes back. Around two years ago while looking for a new facemask on Amazon I found this Indian Healing Clay mask and decided to give it a try. At this price point it was worth a shot! Years have gone by and I still use it on a weekly basis, sometimes more if I am having a breakout or an important event coming up and want a fresh face! (my husband calls it the “Hulk” mask. He thinks he’s funny!)

_DSC3093.jpg

The Indian Healing Clay works with Apple Cider Vinegar to help smooth and soften the skin, all while removing toxins. There are many things Indian Healing Clay can be used for, but my favorite is the ability to dry up my acne by drying up my breakouts and unclogging pores in just one mask!

For application mix equal parts of Indian Healing Clay and Apple Cider Vinegar, apply to face evenly, and let sit. For sensitive skin they recommend letting it sit for 5 min and 15-20 for normal. I usually leave it on as long as I possibly can. My face is always beat red after washing off, but not to worry this is normal and will go away shortly after! You will feel tightening and slight tingle before washing. If you have acne-prone skin this will be a great treatment to add into your routine.

_DSC3109.jpg

I hope this helps you as it did me! Some other tips I would recommend are changing your pillowcase daily, washing morning and night and never touching your face. Remember, oils are NOT our friend!

Unlocking the Secrets of Biolage Oil Renew & The Porosity of Your Hair

No matter how much you are careful styling and coloring your hair, everyday activities can cause damage to your hair's cuticles, making it look dull and lifeless. If you're looking for a way to restore your hair's natural shine, then Biolage Oil Renew is the perfect product to help replenish your hair's moisture and repair the damaged cuticles. Furthermore, the product is specially formulated to work with the porosity level of your hair and help nourish it from root to tip. In this blog post, we'll discuss how Biolage Oil Renew can help revitalize your hair and restore its natural shine.

First things first...What is porosity in hair? Do you have porous hair? Hair porosity is your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. It is affected by the flexible outer hair layer called the cuticle, which determines how easily moisture and oils pass in and out of your hair. Visible symptoms that your hair is porous are that it takes forever to dry, feels rough when dry, and is totally frizzy.

Are you feeling these symptoms? Biolage new oil renewal might be the right option for you.

Having dry, porous hair can be a difficult issue to tackle. Biolage Oil Renew Shampoo for Dry, Porous Hair is the perfect solution. This shampoo helps to replenish and restore moisture to hair by utilizing a blend of natural oils. Its unique formula helps to protect and strengthen hair, while restoring shine and softness. The shampoo is also sulfate-free and is gentle enough to use daily without stripping your hair of its natural oils.

The oil blend helps to improve hair porosity and reduce dryness, making it easier to style and manage. Biolage Oil Renew Shampoo for Dry, Porous Hair is the perfect choice for anyone looking to bring life back to their dull, dry hair. The natural oils help to penetrate the hair shaft and replace lost moisture, leaving hair feeling smooth, silky, and soft. The unique formula also helps to protect and strengthen the hair, while restoring shine and softness.

Whether you are looking to improve hair porosity or just need to replenish lost moisture, Biolage Oil Renew Shampoo for Dry, Porous Hair is the perfect choice. Its natural oils work to penetrate the hair shaft, restore moisture, and leave hair feeling soft and silky. This shampoo is sulfate-free and gentle enough to use daily, so you can have healthy, soft, and manageable hair in no time.

Biolage Advanced oil renew system will replenish and protect the hair cuticles which will lock in moisture to help your hair feel less porous. The first step is to shampoo to wash away a full day of hair pollutants such as dirt and build up that will get your hair ready for step two. Step two is conditioning. This will help to lock in the moisture your hair has been dying for. Lastly, the oil..this product is great! I really love to "cocktail" together the oil with my other styling products to help give my hair that added moisture it needs.

Throughout the year my hair goes through changes. Just like a diet our body needs different foods at different times. The same goes for your hair. Whether you have changed the color of your hair, been swimming in the pool a little too much this summer, or just need to give your hair a little more attention for those porous ends, Biolage Advanced Oil Renew is a great option to help your hair quench that thirst it needs!

Tips for Making Dry Shampoo work for you

If you’re looking for an easy way to keep your hair looking fresh and clean without having to wash it every day, then dry shampoo could be your best friend. Dry shampoo is a great way to extend the life of your hairstyle, and it works especially well when you’re short on time in the morning. In this blog post, we’ll explore how to make dry shampoo work for you, so that you can get the most out of this amazing product.

As a previous hair dresser behind the chair I had daily conversations with my clients about how often they are washing their hair. As they tell me they are washing everyday this look of horror comes across my face. I soon ask them why, to find out that its either just habit, or that their hair gets too oily. The topic of dry shampoo comes up and nine times out of ten I hear " I tried it, it just doesn't work for me". The reason it doesn't work can be one of two things: 1. you weren't using the right dry shampoo for you (yes there is more then one kind of dry shampoo) and 2. you aren't using it correctly.

Hair comes in all types; flat, thin, thick, coarse, just to name a few. Dry shampoo also comes in all types as well to better suit each type of hair. For thin hair you need something lighter and not too wet. This is so your hair won't weigh down and look worse then before you grabbed that bottle of dry shampoo. If you are part of this squad I would recommend Biolage Waterless Clean and Recharge. If you have thin to medium hair I would recommend it's sister dry shampoo Biolage Clean and Full or Non-Aerosol Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk by Klorane. These products are also light and airy, but it gives you a little extra somethin somethin.. and soon will become your best friend.

7516817776_IMG_1182.jpg

Next.. where are my medium to thick haired girls at?? I'm right there with you! I can go up to five days on some weeks (thank goodness for dry shampoo and top knots!) For this type of hair, I recommend Miracle Extender by Matrix or All-In-One Intense Dry Shampoo by Biolage. This dry shampoo has a little bit more of a wet consistency compared to the two previously mentioned dry shampoos. The best part is that it doesn't leave the hair feeling gritty, and leaves a soft touchable texture.

FullSizeRender.jpg

The last dry shampoo, Matrix Play Back or Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo by Living Proof, these are probably my main go to dry shampoos for medium to thick hair. I use them on day one or two to add texture to my hair, or on day four to five to suck up the oils my hair has made. It removes the oils without drying out the hair, leaving no residue. All that and not to mention, how cute is this bottle!

FullSizeRender (1).jpg

As I was saying, you can use dry shampoo in more than one way. It can be used to add texture when you have that freshly washed and clean hair. Before there was "texture spray" and "sea salt spray" this was how I added grit into the hair to help make those big braids and full updos!

Now you've found the right dry shampoo...so how do you apply? Start by sectioning throughout your hair and spray. A rule of thumb on how to spray any product is to stay the length of the can away from hair. This will help from getting product build up in one section and disperse evenly. Now that you have sprayed dry shampoo throughout your hair evenly, let it sit and do its job (absorbing up all those oils!) After its gone to work, grab a brush and brush through hair to work product throughout. DO NOT! I repeat... DO NOT use your hands to run the product throughout your hair. The job of a dry shampoo is to remove oils, and that is exactly what is on your hands. All the work of evenly spraying and working the product throughout your hair will be ruined by absorbing the oils from your hands and not your hair. Now that you brushed throughout, STYLE! You are ready for another day without a single drop of regular shampoo! Hurray!
