From local attractions to the best restaurants, to outdoor activities and a bit of history, this guide will have you covered during your stay in Bozeman.

We just returned from our 10-day road trip to Yellowstone (blog post on the whole trip coming soon!!) The number 1 question I got was after planning lots and lots of different stops along the way from Cali, which was my absolute favorite place? I would definitely have to say it was Bozeman, MT. I really loved the cute hotel we stayed at called RSVP. This hip mountain towns food was AMAZING and a few of the restaurants were so much better than even expected and advertised. Everywhere we went seemed to be easily accessible with a quick drive and centrally located off the main road. Are you going to start planning a trip here soon? I’ll break down all my favorites for you, so all the hard work is done!!

#1 Where to Stay?

I always do plenty of research before we travel to find the perfect hotel that fits our needs. Although you may not spend tons of time in the room its so nice to try and find the comforts of home! I personally love a boutique style hotel that has character and charm! I found RSVP Motel of Bozeman long before this trip and had it pinned in my “Vacation Ideas” folder. So as soon as I knew we would be going to Yellowstone I booked it! Bozeman is a little over an hour outside of the North entrance of Yellowstone so it was an easy scenic drive to get to the famous park. The town being outside of the park a bit actually ended up being the perfect place for us to stay because parts of the park (especially lodging) happen to be closed in April. Bozeman was wide open and allowed us to see an amazing town we might not have otherwise if we would’ve chosen lodging in the park.

Back to the hotel. RSVP. Such a cute place to stay with a vintage Motel vibe but modernized! Every corner of the room had design and details that gave it so much character and charm. They offered lots of room goodies like beauty samples for example, and you know I’m all about that attention to detail! They have a coffee maker in each room, but if you need more they have the cutest coffee shop and restaurant called The Farmers Daughter. Its just darling inside and happens to be one of the top rated places to eat online. We didn’t get a chance to eat at their restaurant but the coffee was great and gave us that kickstart in the morning and the staff was so sweet and the place was always busy!

#2 Places To Eat

Bozeman, Montana is an amazing city to explore, boasting a vibrant downtown, unique eateries, and plenty of cultural activities. The main street area is home to a variety of restaurants, from upscale dining to casual pubs and coffee shops, so there’s something for everyone. Probably my favorite thing to do on vacation.. is EAT haha! If you’ve followed along on this trip through Instagram stories you sure did see a lot of food places! Let's break down our favorites, why we liked them and my recommendations on what you should order.

Black Bird Kitchen

SO DARN GOOD! Make a reservation because this small but adorable restaurant is a popular one!! It was packed all night long and I totally get why. We shared different antipasti , salad and tried the blackbird bread (which was delish). We split (dare we say) one of the best pizzas we have ever had. Scott read a review online before going and read that people were saying it was the best pizza they had ever had and even better then Italy. We laughed at that thought and told ourselves that they must not order pizza much. However… They may have been right! The pizza lived up to the hype and then some! BlackBirdKitchen.com

Western Cafe Of Bozeman

A classic that has been around seemingly forever in the heart of downtown and a must eat for breakfast. The scenery is so perfectly Western and gives you that cozy feel of being in a real mountain town. Scott got the Chicken Fried Steak and I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Both are the top sellers and we soon learned why! Such big portions and so delicious make this place a must eat when in Bozeman! Western Cafe of Bozeman

Mint Cafe and Bar

A short drive to the next small town outside of Bozeman but you’ll get yourself a delicious steak and enjoy the quaint downtown of Belgrade. We both got steaks and Scotty being a good boy got asparagus while I got my favorite guilty pleasure.. the Fries! I wont ever regret getting them either because as good as the steaks were those fries were THE BEST of the entire trip!! Mint was totally worth the 20 min drive and highly recommend calling before you head from Bozeman to get on the waiting list because even in the middle of this small town in the middle of week the place was poppin! Mint Cafe & Bar

The Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe

This was located just up the street from the Bozeman Hot Springs and the cutest little place to start your day with breakfast or to have a delicious midday sandwiches. They make all their fresh pastries and are known for their cinnamon rolls (sadly we didn’t get one because they had sold out!) However the scone we shared was so delicious!! The Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe

Fink’s Deli

Right next to Wild Crumb you will find Fink’s. An adorable little place to grab a sandwich, soups, salads and cuts of meat and cheese. We grabbed a sandwich to share in Yellowstone and eat as we waited for Old Faithful to blow! It was SO good. The sauce was perfect and the meat and cheese were so fresh. Highly recommend for a quick sandwich grab when going to Yellowstone, planning a picnic or to enjoy at their location. Fink’s Deli

Roost Fried Chicken

If you are in the mood for fried chicken.. Look no further! They have every type of chicken and sauce you could ever want. We of course we tried a few different options on the menu and loved them all. My favorite was the classic chicken sandwich! Its a quick place to eat also if you are in a rush! Roost Fried Chicken

Wild Crumb

A great place to grab some pastries! I got banana nut bread, a cheese and ham croissant and blueberry scone for the day we drove to Yellowstone. They open early enough that it was perfect little stop to grab and eat on the road. Wild Crumb

Jam!

Trendy little place in downtown Bozeman only open for breakfast and lunch! Top of my list from what we ordered? The pancakes! They have tons of options and were so good! Side note, make a reservation as well. Even mid week breakfast the place was crowded. Jam On Main

#3 Things To do

Bozeman, Montana is a vibrant city full of outdoor activities and cultural attractions. Located in the beautiful Gallatin Valley, the city is surrounded by mountain ranges and is home to Montana State University. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, Bozeman has something for everyone. Here are some of the things we did during our stay.

Bozeman Hot Springs

Number 1 thing Scotty needs on vacation is a gym after all the good food that we eat. So, me being the planner I am, when I knew our hotel didn’t have one I had to find something to keep him happy! Luckily one of the top things to do was relax in the Hot Springs…but on the property they also had a gym! So, it was a perfect morning to go workout and then jump in the Hot Springs for relaxation all in one place.

Peet’s Hill/ Burkes Park

A beautiful view of the town and a great way to get outside and get some exercise. With beautiful mountains all around it's the ultimate place to take an afternoon walk especially if you brought your dog on this trip.

Drink’s at Montana Ale Works

We didn’t eat here so I can’t comment on the food.. even though it was highly popular on my search before our trip. It was super cute to just stop by and have a beer from their huge list!!

Bridger Creek Golf Course

If you are a golf fan then Bridger Creek is a perfect place to spend an afternoon. Gorgeous location that I enjoyed the nature of while Scotty got to play a round of golf.

Yellowstone

If you are staying in Bozeman to visit Yellowstone or just looking for something to do on a free day I highly recommend visiting the famous park. Scott and I saw everything we wanted in the Yellowstone Park in one day. We didn’t do too many hikes, but we researched and mapped out everything we wanted to see before so that we got the most out of our time and weren’t looking for things as we were driving. For outdoor enthusiasts this is a must do when in the area.

No matter what brings you to Bozeman, you’re sure to find something that fits your interests. Whether it’s exploring the city’s cultural attractions or enjoying the great outdoors, Bozeman has something for everyone.

We both really enjoyed our 4 days in Bozeman and I know you will too! The town offers lots more that you could add (especially for lovers of the outdoors) but these are the things we narrowed our days down to and truly enjoyed! Hope this Montana travel guide helps your planning.

Wishing you wonderful travels, Amanda

It was probably one of my favorite things on our trip. The cottages would be so perfect for families or groups of friends going on trips! The cabin also has a washer and dryer, ironing board and complimentary laundry pods making it helpful for longer stays. You also have beach access across the street from the Cedar Crest Cottages. Cruising on the lake: Take a boat tour and explore the emerald waters of Lake Tahoe. Located in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the lake is one of the largest and deepest alpine lakes in the world. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and get a taste of the local culture as you cruise along the lake.

Hiking at Mount Tallac: Enjoy a challenging hike to the top of Mount Tallac and take in the stunning views. From the summit, you’ll get a panoramic view of the entire Lake Tahoe area, making it a must-do activity for all hikers.

A Scenic Tour: We booked a tour with "Get Your Guide" and found the best tour! The one I picked was with a professional photographer who teaches you his art while showing you the landscape. He took us to the most beautiful spots in all of Lake Tahoe! Many of them were secret spots he loves to go to and photograph. He made the day so fun for us and he knew so much about the art of photography and the local land. He was even a photojournalism major and an art professor at the local community college in Lake Tahoe.

Lake Drive: This is one big lake and can take you hours without stopping just to circle the entire thing. However, the drive is beautiful. I highly recommend hopping in the car and taking a slow, enjoyable scenic drive around the lake, making plenty of stops along the way at the many villages to check out their local shops!! Incline Village is on the Northern side of the lake. Incline Village along with South Lake Tahoe are the two areas that will offer the most entertainment on the lake, but all the different villages have their unique charm and this made every last mile of the drive well worth it.

North Tahoe Arts - North Tahoe Arts is a not-for-profit arts organization located in Lake Tahoe that offers a wide variety of art exhibitions, educational programs, and community events. The organization has two galleries located in Tahoe City and Kings Beach, showcasing works by local, regional, and international artists. The park has two ski lifts, two terrain parks, and a tubing hill, as well as special events and activities throughout the Winter season. Ski and snowboard rentals are available on-site, and experienced instructors are available for lessons. The park is conveniently located in the heart of Tahoe City, making it easy to access for visitors. Not only is the park an excellent spot for families to come and enjoy the mountain experience, but there are also a variety of other winter activities available nearby, such as snowshoeing, ice skating, and sledding. If you are looking for thrilling Winter destinations and activities Tahoe City Winter Sports Park is the place to go for all outdoor fun on the mountain.

Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park: The perfect activity for a day of fun. Located in South Lake Tahoe, the park offers an aerial obstacle course that is sure to bring out the inner daredevil in everyone. With courses ranging from easy to expert, there is something for all ages and skill levels. The courses include zip lines, rope bridges, suspended logs, cargo nets, and more. Safety equipment is provided, and the park offers group rates and special events, making it an ideal choice for a family outing, team-building exercise, or birthday parties. The views of Lake Tahoe from the treetops are breathtaking, making the experience even more memorable. Visitors of all ages will love the thrill of Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park and the views of the lake from the treetops.

Other Winter Sports at Lake Tahoe: Spend your days skiing and snowboarding on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and get a unique experience with a snowmobile tour. If you're feeling adventurous, strap on a pair of snowshoes and trek through the snow-covered trails or go on a winter hike to experience the stunning scenery surrounding Lake Tahoe. Enjoy a classic Winter experience and ice skate on the pristine lake waters of Lake Tahoe. Get a truly magical experience and take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Winter wonderland. Don't forget to witness the breathtaking sunsets from the shore of Lake Tahoe and finish the day off with hot cocoa by the fire after a day of winter fun.

Emerald Bay State Park- Located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay State Park is one of the most popular and beautiful parks in the area. With its stunning granite cliffs, turquoise waters, and lush forests, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as camping, hiking, swimming, boating, and fishing. The park also has a visitor center that provides educational programs and interpretive displays about the natural history of the area. These are going to be your easy transitional pieces. First and foremost, you’ll want to pack much-needed items that are lightweight and comfortable. Opt for light fabrics that are both breathable and comfortable. You’ll want to look fashionable but also make sure you’re not too hot. Your cover-up can be many things, such as a knitted sweater, a loose dress, or maybe even your husband's oversized button-down shirt (Yes, I've been there before). Whatever makes it easy for you to get from your hotel room to the pool. I also love a big-brimmed hat to help cover the sun from my face. It makes for a great poolside accessory!

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY ONE

As soon as we landed we hit the ground running! By 9am we had already dropped off our bags and were seated at the cutest restaurant overlooking the water above Pikes Place Market. Lowell’s had food just as good as the view. You wont want to miss this breakfast! Once we fueled up we were ready to explore. We shopped throughout Pikes Place where we watched the famous throwing of the fish, smelled all the fresh Peonies and checked out all the yummy looking food!

IMG_7993.JPG
IMG_7911.JPG

After exploring we hopped in an Uber and headed to the Seattle Mariners game! We grabbed some beers, garlic fries and sat in some excellent seats behind home plate! When teams aren't quite as good, or don't have the biggest fan base, or because its a mid week game you can often get seats like these for a steal! You know what that means…more money for shopping later!

Once the game was over we opted to walk with the rest of the crowd back towards our hotel and get our room situated. We stayed at the Kimpton Palladian Hotel. With its moody modern feel and being walking distance from Pikes Place, this was a perfect feel for us!

Now that we were all checked in we headed down to the Seattle waterfront and rode their famous ferris wheel before having a beautiful dinner over looking the water at Elliott’s Oyster House. They had the most amazing salmon we had ever had!

Taking a gorgeous walk along the water back to our hotel we spotted the first ever Starbucks! Although the last thing either of us needed was coffee we couldn’t pass up the fact that there was no line!! (This is unheard of! The lines are usually so long to get a coffee here. So I highly suggest going right before they close!)

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY TWO

Waking up on Day 2 was my hubby’s actual birthday. He wanted to start it off no other way than with a great workout. Yeah, he’s one of those people.. (insert eye roll emoji) lol! Peep the photo of the hotel gym.. we also scout out where we will be staying according to if they have a gym. Yes, you can insert another eye roll if you like!

Now that we got the workout out of the way.. we headed out to…you guessed it…eat. Lets face it, we only workout so we can eat more! At the top of the Space Needle they have a restaurant called SkyCity, we headed here for brunch on the rotating top! Such a cool experience, with great food! Even a smoking dessert for the birthday boy! Our meal came with a voucher for visiting the next level on the Space Needle.

Next we walked a couple steps over to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. Talk about out of this world and such a unique experience you can only see in Seattle. Peep the photos below for how amazing it all was.

Now that our bellies were full and our minds full of art we called an uber and headed 30 min north of the city to the winery Chateau Ste. Michelle. Their Riesling was one of the first wines I ever started drinking. I have them to thank for my delicious habit. They have the most beautiful venue with free tours going all day and a large tasting room. They also do huge concerts throughout the year. We were one day late on our trip for seeing John Ledged. Be sure to check them out it was totally work the cost of the uber!

After a long day of fun we headed back to the hotel for a quick 20 min nap.. (its tiring drinking all that wine!) and a change of clothes before dinner. We ate at the Metropolitan Grill. One of my all time favorite restaurants we have been to. The food was amazing and the staff was the very sweetest! It’s no wonder its a favorite spot for Russell Wilson! My mouth is literally watering as I am typing this. If you don't go anywhere I suggest on this blog.. Go here!

SEATTLE ITINERARY DAY THREE

Woke up a little later today after sleeping in, ordering room service, and packing up for check out. We ran, literally, to catch the ferry to Bainbridge Island. I felt like I was on an episode of Greys Anatomy.. looking everywhere for McDreamy with no luck. Bainbridge is a cute little town, something out of a Hallmark movie with all the charm and quiet town vibes. We walked and admired the beauty all the way to the local diner, featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! If it's on triple D’s we go! Two orders of burgers, fries and milkshakes later we were headed back on the windy ferry.

Once back on ground in Seattle we hopped in another Uber and went to Theo Chocolate Factory for a tour and delicious tasting! (Although we don't see much of these chocolate bars in Cali we did JUST see them in Yosemite last week!) Not far from the chocolate factory is the Fremont Troll which is a local tourist spot for photos that is nestled in between homes and under a bridge.

Back to Pike Place Market for a little shopping and some more FOOD! I am a terrible influence on vacation, but Beecher’s mac and cheese had to be sampled and it was oh so worth it!!

After a little exploring we picked up our bags from the hotel and headed to the cutest train station. Heading to Portland next, the train ride was super easy and convenient. We use Amtrak often on our trips over driving whenever we can get a straight shot. This gives us time to read, sleep, eat some more, and not have to deal with driving and traffic when getting around.
